About Tarang
Why We Exist
Why Kinetic Art
In a world designed for distraction, we build objects that invite stillness.
Kinetic art has existed for over a century, but rarely has it been engineered for the home. We saw an opportunity to create something that bridges the gap between art and engineering—objects that move with purpose, creating spaces where the mind can rest.
Why Slow Motion
Speed creates anxiety. Slowness creates presence.
Our boards move at the pace of breath. Not so slow that they appear static, not so fast that they demand attention. The rhythm is calibrated to match the body's natural relaxation response—a pace that allows the mind to wander without wandering away.
Why Limited
Four products. That's the whole catalog.
We believe in doing few things exceptionally well. Each of our four boards represents a distinct approach to motion and form—perfected over years of development. We don't do seasonal collections, limited editions, or flash sales. We make timeless objects designed to last and improve with age.
What We Value
Precision
Every component measured, every tolerance controlled. We don't approximate—we calibrate.
Longevity
Built to run continuously for decades. Materials that age gracefully, mechanics that endure.
Restraint
No LEDs, no apps, no WiFi. Just sand, glass, and motion. Simplicity in service of calm.
Tarang began as an engineering exercise—could we create a kinetic sculpture that runs silently, indefinitely, and beautifully? What started in a small workshop has grown into a dedicated practice of creating objects that bring calm to spaces.
The name "Tarang" comes from Sanskrit, meaning "wave" or "rhythm." It captures the essence of what we build: objects that embody the natural rhythms of motion, bringing the calming presence of waves into any environment.
